In additional recognition of the National Native American Heritage Month this November 2021 we feature the Lakota log cabin design. In sequence with our previously posted Navajo and Ojibwe plans, we wish to specially honor the Lakota Native Americans.
Of great significance one cannot overlook the massacre of hundreds of children, women, and of men of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, in a "battle" near Wounded Knee Creek in the State of South Dakota. This event occurred on December 29, 1890, after the elderly and unarmed Chief Sitting Bull was assassinated. Along with this tragedy, and not recognized as it so rightly deserves to be, credible accounts indicate that over 12 million Native American Indians were killed as their great nation was taken from them by the foreign invaders.
The Great Spirit has kept a full account and He will never forget these God-Given Americans. His still small voice speaks yet today over the greatness that once defined America. One of these days that same Great Spirit Voice will thunder forth loudly as never heard before.
